The sustainable development of Ukraine's agri-food sector is a guarantee of the country's economic stability. Despite serious difficulties, Ukrainian agribusiness has demonstrated remarkable ability to work hard under such conditions of our reality over the past three years. But we know the most important rule – don`t stop and don`t give up! Therefore, many agrarian processing enterprises (including the leading grain processing lines) still go ahead and develop. Moreover, these companies are considering and implementing a development strategy – modernising and upgrading equipment, increasing the range of products, and introducing new directions.
One of the large One of the largest bread product factories in the Khmelnytskyi region 29 years ago completely renovated its buckwheat production lines with equipment from SIC “AGRO-SIMO-MASHBUD” at a grain mill (capacity of 220 tonnes of grain per day). And today, years later, “AGRO-SIMO-MASHBUD” has begun a major overhaul of some of the equipment at the aforementioned grain mill, namely the hydrothermal processing line for buckwheat. The first stage of the major upgrade involves the supply of new ПЗ-1 Steamers. Some of the steamers have already been shipped and are currently being installed under the supervision of “AGRO-SIMO-MASHBUD” specialists.
The quality and yield of buckwheat and other types of cereals largely depends on the quality of the hydrothermal treatment of the grain by steam:
- Groats output increases by 8-12% depending on the grain processed.
- The grain kernel becomes 4-6 times stronger.
- The colour of the groats becomes more homogeneous.
- Cooked groats do not stick together during cooking, they cook faster, become more airy, fragrant and crumbly.
It should be noted that buckwheat groats have high nutritional value, have antioxidant properties, and help lower cholesterol. Buckwheat contains vitamins A, B, C, E, proteins and important fats. It is also high in important minerals such as zinc, magnesium, and phosphorus. Buckwheat contains eight essential amino acids: tryptophan, lysine, methionine, valine, threonine, leucine, isoleucine, and phenylalanine.
Thus, after treatment with steam, the grain keeps more than 80 per cent of the vitamins and minerals that would usually be lost through ordinary cleaning methods of removing from the external shell and polishing.
